The cup exhibits - intense fruity espresso blend, very sweet and with a big pleasing acidity - notes of Lemon Sherbert , Sweet Pear and Granny Smith apples.
A vibrant and fairly multifaceted blend which stands up to milk very well, and is effortlessly enjoyed straight.
One of our wholesale customers, Urban Kitchen, was five years old on 11th September and to celebrate this event we have perfected a limited edition espresso blend that we are calling Urb.
We said at the time (September 11th) that we would be roasting a limited amount of this blend - however - it would seem quite popular so we are delaying its demise...
We set ourselves a brief to see just how much sweet delicious rich bright fruit we could pack into a 25ml espresso shot – few may say there is way too much packed in this one – but we say - Naa never enough!
After a lot of head nodding, chin stroking, re-blending and pulling we ended up using three of our favourite coffees of the moment that give big fruit flavours through filter drip - all giving a very different range of vibrant sweet flavours – and blended them together.
This is an edgy blend with some powerful sweet acidity - almost effervesent - but that is the whole point – we are not talking bitter here, we are talking about the big A for acidity. These coffees have been roasted specifically for this blend to show off the sweet fruitiness above all else - using two different Kenya Micro Lots and Ethiopia Yirgacheffe.
In espresso - look for notes of - Lemon Sherbert, Sweet Pear and Granny Smith Apples - it is an intense fruity espresso blend, sweet and with a big pleasing acidity.
With steamed milk - it is so light and so refreshing it is bordering on beautiful with a lovely light sherbet crema.
Brewing Notes:
The espresso brewing system used, the number brewing parameters and methods employed pulling an espresso shot will have an influence on the coffee's flavour and mouthfeel.
We provide brewing benchmarks or brewing range indicators to all of our espresso blends to provide as much data as possible to gain the highest degree of consistency from the roastrey cupped shot to the baristas shot. These benchmarks and/or brewing range indicators are just that – all they do is suggest what to be looking for to get near to the roastery cupping shot as possible.
Where a brewing temperature and/or a shot time is not indicated in the notes it will be our standard set-up: - we use La Marzocco GB5 set at a temperture of 94C with a shot time of 25 seconds as from the first drop appearing from the portafilter. We dose our portafilters by levelling which is usually 20g of coffee per double shot.
Roasting Information:
We place espresso quality way before convenience - our espresso blends are never pre-blended before roasting thus ensuring the ideal roast profile is reached for each varietal used in a blend.
