The Kirimara Estate is in Central Kenya and located 12 kilometers from Nyeri Town at the foot of Mt. Kenya set between the Chania and Muriggato Rivers.
This area is a haven for wildlife. The forested areas are rich in tree diversity including Acacia, Eucalyptus, Grevillea, Albizia, various Jacaranda Fig Trees and indigenous bushes which have been allowed to mature with managed tree and bush cutting. This makes perfect habitat for various wildlife species including birds, fish and insects.
Coffee pulp from processing is used as compost once it has reached the right decomposition. The farm also uses organic animal manure to even out the nutrient levels in the compost.
There is a Primary School located on the edge of the farm on land that is jointly contributed by neighbouring farms (Kirimara Estate included). Children of school age in the country are required to attend free primary school.
Kirimara Estate does not employ children.Youths between ages 14-17 years of age are allowed to work during school holidays as an introduction to work, but only if accompanied by parents or guardians - which is great to see.
