Every coffee producing Country has a prized area with reputation of producing some of the finest coffees in the Country and the Dota is such an area in Costa Rica. The Dota is the highest, most remote sub region of the Tarrazu growing region. Why so good? Well the Tarrazu Valley is a highland valley surrounded by mountains that form part of the Talamanca Sierra in southern Costa Rica. Its geography is well suited to growing coffee. The growing slopes are at high altitude, which face the early morning sun and cloud cover protects the coffee trees in the afternoon, the unique red soil found in the valley is of volcanic origin which is very high nutrients and with an average relative humidity of 84% and bingo. In the cup you will find bags of Fruit (red berry) tastes followed by a vanilla, caramel creaminess that lasts through to the after taste – the cup is really clean and smooth.
